Chevening Graduation Date Rule for 2027/2028
Current guidance says undergraduate study must be completed at least two years before the application deadline. Because the 2027/2028 deadline is 6 October 2026, this implies completion no later than 6 October 2024. Confirm which completion date applies to your record through the official eligibility checker.
Why the date needs careful verification
A final examination date, official completion date, graduation ceremony, transcript date, and certificate issue date may be different. The public rule refers to finishing undergraduate studies. Do not select whichever date is most convenient; use the definition and field requested by the official application system.
The 6 October 2024 date is calendar arithmetic based on the published two-year rule and 6 October 2026 deadline. It is not a separately published cutoff statement, so applicants near the boundary should seek official clarification rather than relying solely on this guide.
Graduation date and work experience are two tests
Meeting the two-year undergraduate completion rule does not automatically produce 2,800 eligible hours. Current guidance separately requires 2,800 hours acquired after undergraduate completion. Calculate every employment period from the eligible post-degree start date and meet the total before submitting.

- Test 3: degree qualifies the applicant for a UK master's programme
- Certificate must be available by interview if not already issued
What to do if you are close to the boundary
Check the official eligibility page, complete the official checker, and retain university documentation showing the completion status and date. Do not alter dates to pass the checker. If the official interpretation makes the application ineligible, waiting for a later cycle is safer than submitting inconsistent information.
