These Chevening priority areas are broad directions, not a fixed list of eligible professions or degree titles.

Choose among Chevening priority areas

Begin with a concrete problem you understand. Who is affected, what prevents improvement and what capability do you need? A water-management project might relate to climate resilience; improving access to a public service might relate to inclusive societies. These are illustrations, not official classifications or preferred applicant profiles.

Connect Chevening priority areas to study

Explain how specific modules or study areas address your capability gap. Naming a theme does not establish this link by itself. Discuss your first-choice course and university only in the study essay; researching three course choices remains part of preparing the wider application. Include why that university is suitable.

Apply Chevening priority areas at home

Identify a realistic first use of the learning after study. A feasibility assessment, small service pilot or training activity can provide a credible starting point. Connect that step to your medium- and long-term career plan without promising authority, funding or partnerships you do not yet have.
